About LCAPA – A Short History
The Latvian Civil Aviation Pilot Association (LCAPA) is the original union of airBaltic pilots, established in the early 2000s by the airline’s
flight crew. The first known chairman was Captain Aleksandrs Blūzmanis, followed by Captain Aldis Birzgalis.
Over time, cabin crew members also expressed interest in joining, and their participation was welcomed.
Today, cabin crew form a significant and valued part of our membership.
From the beginning, LCAPA has maintained a balanced and constructive relationship with airBaltic management. We pride ourselves
on setting realistic expectations, upholding firm principles, and engaging in responsible dialogue.
This approach has allowed us to achieve meaningful results — from resolving key labor issues to improving daily working conditions —
without resorting to unrealistic demands.
We are known for our ability to see situations clearly, negotiate wisely, and stand firm when needed.
